Fatty's - a new way to eat
I have been wanting to try Fatty's for a while now. The first time Erin and I attempted to go, we found out they have weird operating hours/ dark days. So this time, I triple checked the schedule, and they planned on being open!

My goal is to eventually try the mushroom paella, but I wasn't feeling hungry enough for a massive dinner.

I ordered the salts of the world with tubers (I thought this might be roots, not potatoes).

"salts of the earth with special roots
hand harvested salts from around the world served with seasonal tubers,
extra virgin olive oil and caramelized balsamic reduction."

On the left sits salt with truffle oil. In the middle is a (Bavarian?) smoked salt, and on the right is a French herbed salt, possibly with rosemary. The potato was not the right food to try these salts with, IMHO. I tried an advocado slice, but that overpowered the flavors of the salt. In the end, the cheeses worked the best. The truffle oil salt is addicting and I will have to attempt to make some soon. THe smoked salt was deep with flavor. The herbed salt was delicate yet powerful and quite amazing. I also might try making smoked salt soon.

I also got the cheese plate so I actually had some food to eat. I ended up using the cheese to dip into the salts instead of the potatoes. The Sharp foot cheddar was great with the smoked salt.

At the Fish King..

What to do for dinner? Copper River Salmon?

Dungeonous Crab?

No no, we had decided on soft shelled crab...

...deep fried!!!

This wine had an amazing nose. It smelled smoky in a way that I couldn't get enough of it.

Yummy spicy salad:

After dinner wine. This one smelled like butter and had a very light taste.
